gadgets

There’s a new gadget I’m gagging to check out in japan:
Thanko Vonia Sports headband - it actually uses bone conduction instead of headphones: sound transmits directly through the skull and leaves the ears free to pick up sounds from the outside world without affecting audio quality. Sure you look like a complete tool (see pic above) but I wonder what my skull sounds like? You can even use it underwater - but I assume you’d have to get your ipod shuffle into a zip log bag first, and then figure out how to get the cord out without water getting in...
Checkout http://www.thanko.jp/voniasports/ for details. And while you’re at their site check out their other gadgets like their USB hub for pirates - an 8 port USB hub in the shape of a full size gold ingot, plus USB powered fingerless gloves. They also sell portable folding laptop desks, angled for using laptops in bed or on the couch, even while lying down.
